Freeview is free-to-air TV through an aerial; IPTV is TV delivered over broadband. They are not really rivals: Freeview is a dependable free foundation, while IPTV adds flexibility, extra content and viewing on any screen.

Freeview is available to the vast majority of UK homes and needs no subscription, just an aerial, a compatible TV or box and a TV Licence for live viewing. IPTV needs broadband and a subscription but works on phones, tablets and computers as well as TVs, and in rooms without an aerial socket.
