IPTV on Hisense Smart TVs (VIDAA): Your Options Explained

Hisense makes popular, good-value TVs in the UK, and many run Hisense's own VIDAA operating system. VIDAA's app store is smaller than Android's, so watching IPTV often means choosing between a built-in app, if available, and a plug-in streaming device.

Not every Hisense TV uses VIDAA. Some models run Google TV or Android TV, in which case you have access to Google Play and the full range of Android players. The first step is to find out which system your TV uses.

Check which system your Hisense runs

• VIDAA: the home screen says VIDAA, and apps come from the VIDAA Store or "App Store" on the home screen.
• Google TV or Android TV: you will see the Google Play Store and a Google account sign-in.

Option 1: A player from the VIDAA store

Search the VIDAA app store for "IPTV". The range is limited and changes as developers add or remove apps, so check the listing for recent updates and whether it supports Xtream Codes or M3U logins. Some TV-based players charge a small activation fee and require you to upload your playlist through their website using a code shown on the TV.

1. Open the VIDAA app store and search for an IPTV player.
2. Install it and open it to see the device ID or code.
3. Follow the app's instructions to add your playlist, often via the developer's website.
4. Restart the app so it loads your channels and guide.

Option 2: A streaming stick (usually the easiest)

Plugging a streaming device into a spare HDMI port instantly gives your Hisense a full choice of IPTV players. A Fire TV Stick 4K, a Google TV device or an Android TV box all work well. You then control IPTV through the stick's remote, while your TV simply acts as the screen.

Option 3: Casting from a phone

Some Hisense models support screen mirroring from Android phones or AirPlay from Apple devices. This works for occasional viewing, but a dedicated app on the TV or a stick gives better quality and keeps your phone free.

For the best result with a streaming stick, plug into an HDMI port that supports 4K and enable the enhanced HDMI format for that input in the TV's settings. Can I install Android apps on VIDAA?

No. VIDAA is not Android, so Android apps cannot be installed. Use the VIDAA store or add a streaming stick.

Does IPTV work on older Hisense models?

Older models may have fewer apps. A streaming stick is the most reliable way to bring them up to date.

Will a stick reduce picture quality?

No. A 4K stick connected to a 4K-capable port delivers full quality.
