IPTV Not Working? A Step-by-Step Troubleshooting Guide

When IPTV stops working, the cause is usually one of four things: the internet connection, the device, the app or the account. Checking them in order finds the problem quickly without random guesswork.

This guide covers situations where nothing loads at all, you see login or authorisation errors, or channels refuse to open. If channels play but keep pausing, our buffering guide is a better starting point.

Step 1: Check the internet connection

  • Open another streaming app or a web page on the same device. If that fails, the problem is the connection.
  • Restart the router by switching it off for 30 seconds, then on again.
  • Check whether other devices in the house are online.
  • Look for a broadband outage notice from your internet provider.

Step 2: Restart the device and app

Fully close the IPTV app, then restart the device from its settings menu rather than just turning off the TV. Streaming sticks often only go to sleep when the TV is off. A proper restart clears temporary glitches that cause many "nothing loads" problems.

Step 3: Read the error message

MessageLikely causeWhat to do
Invalid credentials / authorisation failedLogin details typed incorrectlyRe-enter details carefully
Account expiredPlan has ended or app has old dataRenew, then refresh the playlist
Max connections reachedToo many devices streamingClose the app on other devices
Cannot connect to serverWrong URL or network blockCheck URL and port; try another network
No channels foundPlaylist did not downloadRefresh or re-add the playlist

Step 4: Refresh or re-add the playlist

Most apps have an option to update or reload the playlist. If that does not help, add the login again as a new profile, carefully copying every character. Our guides to Xtream Codes and M3U links explain what each field needs.

Step 5: Test on another device

Try the same login on your phone using Wi-Fi. If it works there, the problem is on your TV device or its app. If it fails everywhere, the issue is likely the account or the service, and it is time to contact support.

Step 6: Check the date and time

An incorrect date or time on the device can cause secure connections to fail. Make sure the device is set to update the date and time automatically and uses the UK time zone.

Step 7: Contact support with the right details

  1. Your device and app name, for example "Fire TV Stick 4K, TiviMate".
  2. The exact error message, ideally a photo of the screen.
  3. What you have tried from this list.
  4. Whether other devices work with the same login.

This lets support solve the problem in one reply instead of several.

Troubleshooting FAQ

Why does IPTV work on my phone but not the TV?

The login and service are working, so the issue is the TV device, its app or its connection. Restart it and re-add the playlist.

Could my broadband provider be blocking the service?

It is possible for some addresses. Testing on mobile data helps show whether the home connection is the cause.

Why did it stop working after an app update?

Updates sometimes reset settings. Check the player and stream format options, or clear the cache and log in again.

Connection, device, app, account: check in that order, read the error message carefully and test on a second device. You will find the cause in minutes.
